Himachal Pradesh: BJP to hold statewide protest on December 11:
The Himachal Pradesh BJP announced on Tuesday that it will stage statewide demonstrations on December 11 to highlight the “failures” of the Congress government as Chief Minister Sukhwindar Singh Sukhu completes one year in office.
The Himachal Pradesh opposition parties in the state said that while Congress is celebrating the completion of one year of Sukhu’s tenure, there is no reason for joy as the government’s performance has been “the worst so far.” They accused the government of hindering development, shutting down more than 1,500 institutions, fueling inflation by increasing prices of diesel, petrol, food items, and oil, raising electricity rates, and betraying women and youth by not fulfilling its promise of providing ₹1,500 per month to all women.
In a Himachal Pradesh statement, the BJP said that it would organize protest rallies in all districts on December 11 to expose the “failures” of the government and its failure to implement electoral guarantees. It mentioned that opposition leaders Jai Ram Thakur and state BJP chief Rajeev Bindal, along with senior BJP leaders, would address the rallies.
Thakur claimed that it’s strange that the Congress government is preparing to celebrate one year of Sukhu’s tenure, despite having no achievements. He stated that people have died and become homeless in disasters, and the Himachal Pradesh government is celebrating.
Thakur also alleged that electoral guarantees have not been fulfilled, law and order has deteriorated, and the Himachal Pradesh state’s financial situation is so serious that a loan of ₹12,000 crores has been taken in 12 months.
On Tuesday Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhu reviewed the preparations for the ‘One Year of Change in Administration’ virtual meeting to mark the completion of one year of the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh. The event will take place in Kangra, and Congress leaders Jagat Singh Negi, Sanjay Rattan, and Kewal Singh Pathania will coordinate with the district administration to ensure that all arrangements are completed on time. During the Himachal Pradesh meeting, the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister directed all departments to coordinate with the district Himachal Pradesh administration to ensure proper security, water and electricity supply, cleanliness, and mobile toilets at the event venue.
